DR. LESTER PACKER NAMED HONORARY MEMBER OF THE CHINA ACADEMY OF SCIENCES

prestigious honor to list of credentials

PROVO, Utah—October 17, 2006—Pharmanex announced today that Dr. Lester Packer, a member of the Pharmanex® Scientific Advisory Board was recently named honorary member of the China Academy of Sciences. Dr. Packer’s scientific leadership as the world's foremost antioxidant research scientist is one of many reasons he was named an honorary member of this academy, which is recognized as the most prestigious scientific institute in China.

About Dr. Lester Packer

Dr. Packer has been a member of the Pharmanex Scientific Advisory Board for four years and is most notably known as the “father of antioxidants.” He received his Ph.D. in microbiology and biochemistry from Yale University and was a professor and senior researcher at the University of California at Berkeley for 40 years. He has been the recipient of numerous scientific achievement awards including three honorary doctoral degrees. He serves on editorial scientific advisory boards for scientific journals related to biochemistry, antioxidant metabolism and nutrition. Additionally, Dr. Packer has published over 800 scientific papers and more than 100 books on every aspect of antioxidant health. In addition to his membership in more than a dozen professional research societies, Dr. Packer has held offices as President of the International Society of Free Radical Research, President of the Oxygen Club of California, and Vice-President of UNESCO - the United Nations Global Network on Molecular and Cell Biology.
